Tour of Newport,
Rhode Island

(6 or 8 hours)

This tour takes you back in time to the grandeur and extravagance of some of America’s 19th century millionaires. A visit to their “summer cottages,” now known as the mansions of Newport, gives you a glimpse into their opulent lifestyle. You can choose among the oldest mansion, the Breakers, built for Cornelius Vanderbilt in 1895, with a breathtaking view of the Atlantic Ocean; the Marble House, built in 1892, at a cost of $11 million; the Elms mansion, built in 1901, and known for its 400-guest house parties, which included President Theodore Roosevelt’s daughter, and actress Ethel Barrymore or the Rosecliff mansion, built in 1902, and known for the grandest Gilded Age parties. The Rosecliff mansion was also used in the major motion picture The Great Gatsby.

You have an opportunity to enjoy the view of the historic Newport harbor, and stroll the waterfront with its specialty boutique shops and attractive restaurants.
